Capacity Development
Building a more inclusive global ocean science community
BioGeoSCAPES supports capacity development, collaboration, and professional growth across the international ocean science community. Our efforts prioritize early career researchers worldwide and work to expand access to training, networks, and collaborative opportunities for researchers in the Global South.
BioGeoSCAPES Fellows Program
An international cohort program supporting early career researchers worldwide through professional development awards, laboratory exchanges, in-person workshops, networking, collaborative projects, and leadership opportunities. Fellows build interdisciplinary relationships, expand their professional networks, and develop new skills while contributing to BioGeoSCAPES science, governance, and community initiatives.
BioGeoSCAPES at COESSING
The Coastal Ocean Environment Summer School in Nigeria and Ghana (COESSING) is a UN Ocean Decade-endorsed project supporting capacity development and collaboration in ocean and environmental sciences. For the past three summers, BioGeoSCAPES has supported hands-on omics and microbial biogeochemistry instruction within COESSING’s Biogeochemistry of Water module.
