I am a biological oceanographer and postdoctoral research associate at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies in Hobart, Australia, specializing in ocean biogeochemistry, nutrient cycling, and phytoplankton dynamics. I primarily work with bio-optical observations from autonomous platforms, such as tagged seals, BGC-Argo floats, and ocean color satellites. My current work focuses on phytoplankton productivity and carbon cycling in Antarctic coastal polynyas—ice-free regions and highly productive ecosystems—particularly in relation to iron availability. During my PhD at the University of Tasmania, I investigated the Southern Ocean’s biological response to iron fertilisation by windblown mineral dust and wildfire emissions.
