Funding and Capacity Development

BioGeoSCAPES is a bottom-up, community-driven effort designed to unite researchers around a shared vision for advancing our understanding of marine microbial metabolisms and biogeochemistry on a changing planet. While BioGeoSCAPES itself is not expected to directly fund research projects, the program will endorse and support science that aligns with its mission and vision.

Our support focuses on empowering the international research community to address research questions aligned with the 'States, Rates and Fates' themes of the BioGeoSCAPES Science Plan through:

  • Networking and Collaboration: Connecting researchers across disciplines, career stages, and regions to stimulate new collaborations and partnerships.

  • Skill Building: Offering workshops, training opportunities, and resources that strengthen technical, analytical, and collaborative leadership skills across the community.

  • Research Product Development and Coordination: Helping organize, refine, and promote shared research outputs, including standards, protocols, databases, and synthesis efforts that advance the BioGeoSCAPES vision.
