A US National Biogeoscapes Workshop supported by OCB November 10-12, 2021
Travel Resources
First, please do not make air travel reservations before checking the bus schedules below as we don't want you stranded in Boston! The two airports nearest to Woods Hole are Boston Logan Airport (BOS) and Providence T.F. Green Airport (PVD). Both airports are just under 80 miles from Woods Hole but there is only bus service from Boston Logan to Woods Hole. We recommend the the Plymouth and Brockton Bus Company as you don't have to pick one time to travel.
There will be a shuttle bus to transport participants between the Quissett Campus and from/to the hotels, and since there are viable mass transport options between the airport and Woods Hole, we discourage rental cars.
Ground transportation
The Plymouth&Brockton (recommended, as they don't require a set timed ticket) and Peter Pan buses depart from the Boston airport regularly, and have stops close to the Inn on the Square (Falmouth). Put in Boston Logan Airport and then Falmouth on their web sites to get the correct schedule. The bus stop for “scheduled buses” can be found right outside each terminal at Boston Logan Airport. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn, you will require a taxi from the Falmouth bus station (Falmouth Taxi at 508-548-3100 or All Seasons Taxi at 508-548-9990, or Uber). There are other methods to travel the ~90-minute trip from the airports to Woods Hole such as the GoGreen Shuttle, White Tie Limousine, Enterprise and National car rentals, and taxis. It is best to contact Mary Zawoysky at mzawoysky@whoi.edu to make those arrangements since she can get you our discount.

Getting Around
We will have a meeting shuttle to transport participants between the hotels and WHOI each day of the workshop. If you plan to bring a personal or rental car to the WHOI campus, we will provide a temporary parking permit upon arrival. If you are staying in the hotel and have a car, we encourage you to fill it up with colleagues as you drive to/from campus each day. Please email mzawoysky@whoi.edu to get a parking permit.
Another fun idea (depending on weather) is renting a bicycle from Corner Cycle Falmouth (across the street from Inn on the Square). The bike path is nearby and goes right past WHOI.
About the Meeting Site
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) is located in Woods Hole, MA. Woods Hole is approximately 75 miles south of Boston on Cape Cod. It is surrounded by the waters of Martha’s Vineyard Sound and Buzzards Bay and just a few miles south of Falmouth, which is typically New England (village green, Main Street and a Congregational Church with a bell cast by Paul Revere).

Restaurants
For meals on your own, there are 6 restaurants right in Woods Hole outside of the continental breakfasts, lunches, one reception and one supper we will provide at the meeting. The Inn on the Square and Holiday Inn also have their own restaurants, and downtown Falmouth has many restaurants as well. If you have questions about where to eat locally, please consult our Local Restaurant List or ask Heather, Mai or Mary.
