  • The Cohen Lab at University of Georgia is recruiting a highly interdisciplinary postdoc to lead independent research initiatives within the disciplines of biological oceanography and marine microbial ecology. Research opportunities include integrating geochemistry with meta-omics and investigating metalloprotein abundance patterns across the North Atlantic Ocean. Of particular interest is examining the influences of trace metal availability on eukaryotic phytoplankton metal metabolism.   • Postdoctoral Researcher in Raman Spectroscopy and Carbon Cycle Dynamics at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense, Denmark, to investigate the evolution of the carbon cycle through Raman spectroscopic analysis of ancient sedimentary rocks and modern marine and river sediments. This is a full-time, 2.5-year position beginning around October 2026. Application deadline: August 31, 2026.
  • Postdoctoral Fellow in Molecular or Synthetic Biology at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCB Prague) in Prague, Czech Republic, to develop workflows for the discovery and utilization of bioactive plant-derived molecules using molecular biology, synthetic biology, metabolomics, and bioinformatics approaches. Workshops, Webinars and Other Opportunities

IOC Ocean Traineeships 2026

The UNESCO Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) is accepting applications for its 2026 Ocean Traineeships programme. Early career ocean professionals will complete a three-month placement at one of eight host institutions in Argentina, Brazil, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, or Spain, gaining hands-on experience in priority areas including ocean observation, biodiversity data management, oceanographic data management, marine spatial planning, harmful algal blooms, coastal resilience, and early warning systems.

2026 NF-POGO Open Call for Shipboard Training Fellowships

The Partnership for Observation of the Global Ocean (POGO) is planning to offer shipboard fellowship opportunities on board research vessels throughout 2026 and early 2027. The programme is designed to promote training and capacity building, contributing to the development of a global ocean observation system.

SCAR Fellowships 2026

The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) is accepting applications for its 2026 Fellowship Programme. The program supports PhD students and researchers within five years of completing their PhD to undertake research at international laboratories, field facilities, or institutes in another SCAR member country. Fellowships provide up to USD $15,000 to support projects that advance Antarctic and Southern Ocean research while fostering long-term international scientific collaborations.

Explorers Club Impact Grants

The Explorers Club Impact Grants support field-based scientific expeditions and exploratory research projects worldwide. The program provides funding for projects in ecology, earth sciences, marine science, conservation, anthropology, archaeology, and environmental research, with support for fieldwork, travel, equipment, research logistics, and other scientific exploration activities that generate new knowledge and real-world impact.

Yachts for Science

Yachts for Science is seeking marine scientists with field-based research projects that could be conducted from privately owned yachts. The program connects researchers with yacht owners and crews to provide access to the ocean for projects focused on marine biodiversity, conservation, climate change, ocean health, and other marine science initiatives that may otherwise be limited by vessel availability or cost.
